BIOGRAPHY:
The backstory of Ryan Richards, as he tells it, is that he was a young farm hand, growing up in rural Canada. His personal motto is to be the hardest working fella in the room. Always Hustle until you get what you want. Driven by GOD, GOALS & GRIND. He was a lifelong wrestling fan and woke up one day thinking, "I can do that" and it became part of the Goal, part of the Grind, by the Grace of God to guide him. He trained, HARDER than anyone else. FIRST in the Door, LAST to Leave. He heard that the best do a tour of Japan, so he enlisted in the RSPW BattleGrounds Dojo. He returns to Canada to debut in CW and to make his mark on the industry. He would eventually be revealed to have been in cahoots with Nael, joining her and Grizzly VanZant to form The Forgotten, becoming CHAMP Dynamite Champion in the process. When the EWS brands merged, he would win the unifed EWS Junior Heavyweight Championship
PERSONALITY:
Intensely energetic, enthusiastic person. Always Positive. Always looking to push himself harder. The Weak get Eaten. The Strong HUSTLE every day. The struggle you feel today, develops the strength you need for tomorrow. "Success is not Owned, it's Rented. And the rent is due EVERYDAY!"
Calls himself the local hero of <wherever he is wrestling today>.
Following his heel turn, he has taken to deliberately mispronouncing the names of his opponents.
APPEARANCE:
Mid 20's, athletic frame, deceptively strong. Piercing blue eyes. Handsome.
ATTIRE:
Black, red, white wrestling double strap singlet. Usually including one of his many phrases and done in a faded tattered Canadian Flag theme. Wears knee pads of the same design, wrist bands and bicep bands with his logos or sayings (which he often throws into the crowd either during or after matches). During his entrances, he wears one of his many merch t-shirts (different colors, different sayings) and will remove this shirt in the ring and throw it into the crowd. Usually has a merch bag stashed under the ring, and after matches, sometimes during, will hand out some of his merch. Prefers his Retro Rebook Pumps over wrestling boots.
ENTRANCE THEME:
The Killers - "The Man"
ENTRANCE DESCRIPTION:
The Killers "The Man" kicks in as Ryan Richards comes hustling out from behind the curtain, rocking <merch of local sports team> and a ‘<city>’s Local Hero’ t-shirt to a chorus of boos – although it is clear he only hears cheers. He stops on top of the ramp, smiling as he looks around at the crowd, pointing out to the different sections. He looks up to the heavens, kisses his fist and points to the big man upstairs, then throws both arms overhead and makes the double rocker hand signals, and shouts WOO! He refocuses with a smile at the camera man, points and says "Time to go to work!" and runs the ramp to the ring, belly sliding into the ring. He takes time to move around to all sides of the ring, pointing at the fans, especially the youngsters, winking and shouting motivational phrases. He moves to the camera side and pulls off his Hustle-Merch t-shirt twists it and throws it into the crowd – only for it to come sailing right back a few seconds later. Shaking his head at the lack of hustle & grind being displayed by his ‘hometown’ crowd, he flexes his left muscle and points to the bicep band that reads "HARDEST WORKER" then flexes the right for the camera, pointing to the other band that says "IN THE ROOM" and shouts out a pumped up YEAH BABY! WOO! LET'S DO THIS!
WRESTLING STYLE:
Richards is not the most talented wrestler. In fact, he relies heavily on his Hustle, saying "My Hustle will beat your Talent, when your Talent doesn't Hustle!"
He's truly only spent less than one year preparing for his wrestling debut. His game is power. He's strong.. really strong. His stamina is also through the roof. He will use that strength and stamina to his advantage, and he's truly one of those guys that the longer a match goes, the more heavily it favours him.
REGULARLY USED MOVES:
*One of his Favourite regularly used moves is the "12-6 Elbow" or Stepping Bionic Elbow, adopted from Dusty Rhodes/Colt Cabana*
1. Hip-Tosses (x2), then the third hip toss is a Falling Hip Toss then catches rising opponent with a flash stiff Clothesline off his bent knee.
2. Irish whip, into a rebound swinging Side Walk Slam
3. Top Wristlock, with knee to the head (transition/weardown hold)
4. Series of Running Stiff-arm Shoulder Tackles
5. Abdominal Stretch held for several long moments, then released immediately into a belly to back suplex
6. Sleeper Hold then almost instantly into a pick up Sleeper Slam
7. Leaping Dropkick (Likes to throw a dropkick, but it's not pretty/think Cena. Heel Commentators will openly make fun of this.)
8. Arm twist, into a boot and Short Arm DDT
9. Elevated Double Arm Chicken Wing done like Ricky Steamboat, displaying Richards true strength. Holds opponent like this for several moments and may either throw opponent onto their face or release and catch in a rear waistlock and hit a suspended deadlift German Suplex!
10. Powerlift (gorilla press) held for up to 30 seconds/crowd might count, then into a snap front powerslam
TRADEMARK MOVES:
(3 Moves of Doom, that always go in order for his finishing sequence.)
1. Counter block to Punch- Shakes his head in opponents face, then Jab Jab Jab, wind-up (spinning his arm round-and-round as the children cheer or OhhhhhhhOH!) BIG RIGHT (knocks down opponent. Richards pulls him back up, whips him into the ropes and hits a) Running Axe Bomba!
2. (Richards waits/showboats as opponent slowly gets back to their feet) Scoop Slam! (opponent gets up again as Richards motions them to rise) ANOTHER scoop slam (with a bit more authority. Opponent gets up a little slower as Richards motions again) a THIRD Scoop, spins around 360 with opponent in his arms and hits a sit-down scoopslam driver!
3. (Richards pops up to his feet, points to his Rebook Pumps and bends down giving them both a good squeeze. Perfectly Pumped, he pops up, brushes a little dirt off his shoulder, then rebounds off the ropes, stopping suddenly next to his opponent, striking a Mr. Universe Pose www.legendaryfitness.com/as1970Olympia.jpg, then turns it into a DAB) before dropping the Dab Elbow to the heart!
FINISHER(S):
1. Hustle & Flow
(After receiving the Dab Elbow, opponent rises holding their chest. Richards boots them in the gut, singles out the right arm, applies and arm twist and into a short arm pull up across his shoulders. Then he spins his opponent in an Airplane Spin, ending in a Back Pack Stunner! Rolling over his opponent and hooking the leg for the win.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
*Richards is a merch Machine. He treats himself like a Brand, and gets up every day to Hustle that Brand. "Hustle until you don't have to introduce yourself" is one of his many phrases. He's got the Wrestling IQ to know that the smarks of the industry probably won't like him in the long run, but isn't after their vote. He's after the children, the women. Kids want Merch of their favourite guy. Mom's buy that Merch. He makes sure that the message he delivers can appeal to all though. Don't want to intentionally alienate anyone (potential customer). But he legit wants to work harder than anyone to achieve his goals, and will be the first man to show up and the last to leave no matter where his match is on the card.
*Is a huge mark/fan of Steve Corman and Jay Champ. Considers them idols.
