BIO:
Simon York grew up in a wrestling household. His father, uncle, and older cousins were all great fans of the business and introduced both Simon and his older brother A.J. to the wrestling world at the age of 6 and 7. Simon and his brother grew up watching their favorite wrestlers every Saturday morning on Superstars, and would always go to the live shows as they past through town. Being that he was from North Carolina, he was naturally a Ric Flair fan. Both Simon and his brother joined the Wrestling team at their high school.
Both Simon and his brother were co-captains of the team. After high school, A.J. decided to go on to college, while Simon decided to pursue his wrestling dreams. Simon followed in the footsteps of his older cousins and joined a wrestling school. He trained for several months, and opened at hockey areas and drive-ins on those shows. He was making about $5 a night for his performance. He decided to venture out to different areas and discover different minor league organizations. He figured the best way to get his name out there, was to wrestle all over the country.
Simon traveled from the east coast to the west coast. He went up north to Canada to wrestle, and down south to Mexico, and everywhere in between. He then discovered that his cousins had opened a wrestling school in Austin Texas, and soon after went under the tutelage of all three of his cousins. He trained with them for over a year, and was surprised one day when he came to work to find his brother A.J. had also joined. By now Simon was working Main Event level shows for his cousins, while also working for many different independent organizations across North and Central America. He was even vote the "#1 Unsigned Talent" & "Rookie Of The Year" by Pro Wrestling Monthly Magazine.
Simon was doing very well for himself, and decided to enlist the help of a very well known Wrestling Agent, Marco Cruze, much to the dislike of his cousins. Cruze saw untapped talent in Simon, and decided it was time this Kid was discovered and recognized for the Gem he was. Marco played the field, looking for the best deal. He found that deal in American Championship Wrestling. Simon left his cousins Training and Wrestling school, not on the best of terms, but was promised by Mr. Cruze, better things would follow. He signed with ACW, and got one of the biggest contracts for a rookie ever.
Simon debuted on Monday July 15th in Providence Rhode Island. His opponent was ACW's Dominator. Simon made short work of the man, and went on to thoroughly impress the execs in the head office. Simon was instantly pumped to Main Event status. The following week, he squared off against Wrestling Legend Stu Wrigley. Simon went toe to toe with the legend, but after being locked in Wrigley's painful elevated Crab for over four minutes, Simon passed out because of the pain. Even though he lost, again, Simon had wowed the boys in the offices. The following week, he received the opportunity he had been waiting for. A contenders match to the cruiserweight championship. However, due to over booking, and his flight being delayed, Simon got no sleep the night before the match. It showed in the ring that evening, and he was defeated. The following week, Simon bounced back. He was scheduled to take on Harbinger and Nathan Selacki. Although the match was never aired, Simon defeated these two men in which would be his final match in ACW.
A Day later, ACW Owner Michael Wayne announced the closing of American Championship Wrestling. Simon is once again left without a home. Simon's agent went immediately into talks with Extreme Online Wrestling who was very interested in this young talent. EOW also signed his brother to a contract and the duo went under the training of some of EOW's best. The pair was sent to Calgary to train with the Hart Family, and to Hamilton to train with EOW legend Steve Corman. Then to Japan.
The team debuted in September and turned on their trainers, and started a long and successful heel turn. Simon Captured the TAG TEAM TITLES in his debut match and went on to a three month undefeated reign as Tag Champions. He also captured the EOW E-Division Title and held it for two and a half months. When EOW Shut its doors, AJ decided it was time to settle down and returned home.
York would continue on and take his story international. Wrestling in BAW in the UK and IWCP in Australia, as well as for ACW in the states, capturing championships in every place he chose to rest his hat. He was even afounding member of the Famed HIGH ROLLERS Stable.
In 2005, a different opportunity arose. While wrestling in Japan, York began training in Kung Fu and was approached about a multi-movie deal with him becoming the lead actor in a new movie series called “Enter the Dragonfist”. York would accept the role, leaving the wrestling industry behind. York would go on to make a staggering 15 movies in the Franchise.
In 2015, rumors began to swell that Simon York would make his long awaited return to Wrestling in the land that made him into a famous (Japanese) Movie Star. And in 2015 it came to fruition that York would return, however as Matchmaker of the RSPW brand and later the Fury Brand. His time in the match maker chair was limited, before be returned to the movie industry.
In 2020, and the DragonFist franchise concluded, York was reached out to by Long Time Friend Steve Corman, about lending his star power to the returning AXW. York met with Luke Mathews, and a contract was reached, for an undisclosed amount for an undisclosed period of time. But in the end, both sides were said to be very happy with this deal. York looks to return to the ring this April, with the AXW Brand.
